Unlike other gemstones, the least amount of colour the better with Diamonds. They are scaled from D-Z, with D having no colour at all, going through to Z as the more yellow they appear. Fancy colours are very rare and can be blue, pink or a very yellow Diamond that is graded after Z. As these fancy-coloured Diamonds are rare they have a hefty price tag. Some famous examples of these are the Hope Diamond, which is a natural blue Diamond, the Tiffany Yellow or the Pink Star Diamond.
Diamonds can be found in over 30 countries around the world but some of the main suppliers are Russia, Canada, Botswana and South Africa.
As a jeweller, making sure that the Diamonds we sell come from ethical sources is important. The Kimberly Process was set up in 2003 by the Diamond Industry as a way to reassure customers that the Diamonds they are buying are conflict-free.
A symbol of purity and an amplifier of energy, a Diamond is one of few stones that never needs to be recharged. It will boost the energy of other crystals when used for healing and enhances whatever it comes into contact with. As it has been a symbol of wealth for thousands of years it is great for manifestation, the larger the Diamond the more abundance it will attract.
