Aquamarine is a pale blue through to a light green. It’s actually a variety of Beryl like Emeralds. Because of its colour being so much like that of the sea, Romans and Greeks used to call it the “sailors’ gem”, they believed it would bring you safe passage when travelling by sea.
In the 19th century, the most popular colour for Aquamarine was sea green. These days the bluer the stone the more valuable.
Aquamarine can be found in a few places across the globe, including Nigeria and Pakistan. Most of the high-quality gemstones come out of Brazil, including the Dom Pedro Aquamarine. This giant weighs in at just over 10,000 carats, was cut into an obelisk and is now on display in the Smithsonian Museum.
Invoking the calm purity of crystal blue waters, this gem can quiet the mind and reduce stress. In ancient times it was thought to be able to fight off the forces of darkness and bring favour from the spirits of light.
Aquamarine can help with swollen glands, thyroid issues and eyesight. It is also great to carry with you if you suffer from hay fever.
Eye ailments can be relieved if you place some Aquamarine on your eyelids for 20 mins at night. This has been common practice for hundreds of years, first being recorded in the second century BC.

The Throat Chakra connects to Aquamarine, as it will encourage honesty and bring forward hidden emotions. Because of the soothing energy of the stone, it is also great for meditation.
If you place Aquamarine in the wealth corner of your home (the far-left corner of your home when standing at your front door), it will encourage self-love.
